Bad Week….We All Have Them

Warning this post may contain explicit language. Yes that is just the kind of week I had last week. I’m not saying that I don’t have bad week at other times but last week was a super shitty week. It makes me think back to a couple of weeks ago to the bird sitting in the middle of the road that tried to fly away as I drove along but instead bounced off of my windshield and it ended in a rain shower of feathers. That kind of shitty week.

My week started with rejection followed by a tire blowout, my nine-year-old and I almost getting run over by a car and a super busy week at work. When you think it can’t get any worse you find out insurance approval is changing you have to discharge patients that you have worked with so hard returning these patients to a functional level. As in, one was so terrified of putting food in his mouth when we started to now he’s trying all kinds of new foods and drinks!

I don’t know how you take rejection but I take it hard. Like I’m just going to throw in the towel kind of hard. It’s so easy to get down on myself and to continue to tell myself that I’m just not good enough. I’m guessing that the numerous amount of hours that I spend in the car by myself doesn’t do much to help my self-esteem. The self-talk can get negative.

The funny thing is where I find my inspiration. I don’t know if any of you are subjected to watching the WWE but my nine-year-old son is obsessed with it. If he’s not putting me in an ROK or trying to do a Twist of Fate on me we are discussing the superstars of WWE. All. The. Time.

Now I know what you’re thinking. You probably think that this past week has made me lose my mind and think that I’m writing for a WWE blog. I’m not, although as much as I’ve watched wrestling I feel like I could. The thing is every week we watch Monday Night Raw and we watched Tuesday night SmackDown.

These men and women go out every week and give it their all to put on a good performance. Not all of them are popular. In fact many of them go out get booed. Many of them have people in the crowd holding up signs telling them to go to hell or that they suck.

The wrestlers don’t listen to thousands of boos or read the signs and say you know what I’m done. They don’t say, well not all of the fans like me so I need to find something different to do. If they can go out week after week with thousands of people putting them down then why should I let one person telling me no stop me from doing what I love?

Who knew you could learn a lesson from WWE??

Let’s make this a great week! Start out strong on Monday and make it even stronger on Friday. We all have bad weeks and if this is your bad week treat yourself to something special! Really! I said it’s ok.

Hang in there! Remember all the people you have helped in the past and are helping now! Reject the negative self-talk- it can be brutal and unproductive:) This week will surely be better than last!!!
