I’m wondering if you could give me some help, or direction. My dad is 77 years old, and close to 20 years ago was treated for throat cancer with intense radiation only, no surgery or chemo therapy. Within the last year and a half his swallowing has become compromise to the point where he has had two severe bouts of aspiration pneumonia. He is currently on a peg tube for total nutrition with nothing by mouth. We are concerned about the nutrition that he is getting from a can, and also just dealing with life without eating is very difficult. He is totally functional in all other ways. We live in Iowa, and he was treated at the University of Iowa hospitals under Dr. Harry Hoffman. I don’t know where to start in my research or desperation to help him. I appreciate any information or direction that you would give me.

Hi Tiffani, we are looking to arrange dysphagia education for our organization Capital Care. We noticed you are providing education in Edmonton this month and again in June. Are you able to send me more information about the education you provide?

  3. Hello Tiffani,

We are looking for Dysphagia workshop for our health services. I noticed you are coming to Alberta in June 2018. We are located in Saskatchewan. I would like to discuss options with you further.

I am curious about this site as I was born with dysphagia but my parents only realized it the first time I was given solid food.I figured out what causes my symptons and learned how to ‘fix’ it over time. I have not read anything online that uses the techniques I use to correct my dysphagia. I would be interested in finding a discussion group that I could join on this subject. I am a 69 year old female. When I was a baby no one knew anything about the problem I had and so my Mum and Dad just worked out how to feed me so I could survive.
